Basic Leadership School

Thanks for your interest in joining our staff here in Davos, Switzerland to help us pioneer Gods work here. You have made a great choice! We are an exciting base to be part of, and are always blessed to receive staff applications.

We need staff in the following areas:

• SCHOOL STAFF: Snowboarders DTS - Nov, Snowboarders DTS - Feb, Skateboarders DTS

• BACKBONE MINISTRIES: Office, Hospitality, Cooks, Housekeeping, Vehicle Maintenance, Building Maintenance, Project Development, Construction, Communications (Graphic Artists, Web Designers, Video Producers, Network Techies, Writers, etc).
• MINISTRY TEAM: Snowboard-, Skate- and Youth Ministries
• WORSHIP & INTERCESSION: Someone who would like to take ownership of the whole area of Worship and Intercession for the base.

For all our new, inexperienced staff, it is a requirement to undertake the Basic Leadership School (BLS). This is an in-service staffing program for the duration of 12 months. It has two phases:

• 6 months staffing a DTS or working in a ministry of choice with YWAM Davos.
• 6 months staffing a second DTS or continuing working in your ministry of choice.

The entire course is designed to assist the development of leadership skills. The student is coached and mentored in the task of leading others. Students meet for one afternoon a week for discussion, lectures and instruction on such topics as pastoral skills, utilizing spiritual gifts, small group dynamics, basic management principles, and leading outreaches. In addition the student meets regularly with a mentor for feedback and
evaluation. Assignments include reading and reporting on six books during the full BLS covering basic leadership topics and issues.

The BLS can be done in one block or a break can be taken between the 1st and 2nd phase. The BLS is a University of the Nations accredited school (CCM240 - 8 credits)

We are committed to living a Godly life worth the example. Your time here will be enjoyable, rewarding and challenging. Being a disciple of Jesus Christ includes taking responsibility for your life and conduct. The following things apply to you during your school:

Exclusive relationships
This will be a very special time for you to focus on God and build excellent friendships that last. To remain focused during the school we ask that no “boyfriend/girlfriend” relationships are started. We find that this provides a healthy environment where students are able to trust each other and enjoy developing Godly friendships without the distraction of a dating relationship.

Drugs, tobacco and alcohol
Most of the evangelical community of the world considers alcoholic drinks and tobacco products totally off limits. Often in these contexts, alcohol and tobacco use is viewed as a sign that someone either does not know God or is turning away from Him. It is important that we understand and honor one another's cultural backgrounds in our conversations and actions.

Drugs and smoking are absolutely prohibited and can be grounds for immediate dismissal from your school. On the base, alcohol is not allowed. We ask you to be wise and moderate in consuming alcohol. If you are suffering with an addiction of tobacco (regularly smoking) or alcohol, this will be a great opportunity to get rid of it. If we recognize that you have a problem with any of these we will make some personal guidelines for you to help you get rid of it.
