I see Bones - YOU see Army

Ezekiel 37 is the core scripture as God led us to start a Sk8DTS. It is about getting Gods perspective on things, what are His thought over people and nations. God does the work through His people by His power. He is asking us to talk to the dry bones so he can release His power to get them back to life. The chapter is about physical and spiritual restoration and radical obedience. God wants to bring hope to the hopeless, redeeming them, bring them back into his kingdom, into his presence.

Do you want to know God more and make Him known to the skate community of Davos, Switzerland and other parts of the europe? Are you up for a radical change in your life?

sk8

The Sk8DTS has all elements of a 'normal' DTS (Discipleship Training School). Our mandate of the school is to live a radical christian lifestyle, to call forth others for a radical relationship with God. The same time we want to serve the people in need.

God put Europe on our heart. The setup is a little bit like a mobile DTS. We will have about 8 weeks of Lectures in Davos with a break of about two outreach weeks in Switzerland. During the main outreach part we plan to travel throughout Europe. The rest of lectures are done traveling at other locations, spread out during the outreach, before we debrief back in Davos.

It's the heart that counts!

sk8_3The DTS is about Christian character, and it is more than theory. It is a journey into the heart of God - a journey of discovery where God's ways become your own. Emphasis is not on knowledge gained but on principles applied; it is not minds filled with facts but hearts filled with faith. Knowing God personally and obeying Him completely is the bottom line.
The real world
Our heart is not to take you out of the “real world” to give you a nice experience with God. We want to see you rise up in everyday situations, to be a witness of God and an Ambassador of Christ, driven by the power of the Holy Spirit. Because we are a Skateboarders DTS we are focusing on the skateboarders community in Davos, Switzerland and Europe. You don't have to be the best skater ever, but you have to love the people within that culture.
Committed to do it!
The DTS is a special time in your life to seek and know the Lord better. We are committed to doing all we can to help you realize this goal. All staff are non-salaried missionaries dedicated to the training and equipping of Christians who want their lives to count for God and impact their world and generation for good.

How much do we skateboard?

A full learning week in a DTS program requires a 50h involvement as a student. These 50h include Lectures, Worship, Intercession, Outreach Preparation, Assignments so on. Busy! You will be able to hit our local skate park or other spots in town on your free time and weekends.

Description

sk8_5This school is an intensive Christian discipleship course beginning with an 11-week lecture/teaching phase followed by an 13 week practical field assignment. It is a prerequisite for all other courses in the University of the Nations. The DTS encourages you in personal character development, growing in your relationship with God and identifying your unique gifts and callings. Cross-cultural exposure and global awareness are important topics throughout the course, preparing you to share the good news and disciple current and future generations, answering the call to “Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19)

We keep the school as small as possible (max. 20 Students) to make discipleship on a personal level happen. Our heart is to be one big family, where we help each other to grow in God and share the love of God to our friends around us.

sk8_Phase 1, Lectures (IDS 701)

A general week during phase one will consist of daily lectures with different teachers, worship, intercession (prayer), outreach preparation, work duties, evangelism, bible study, personal devotions and assignments... It will be a productive time. The curriculum is in the following six major categories: God’s nature and character; God’s intentions for individuals, peoples and nations; seeing all of life from God’s perspective; redemption, sin, and the cross; God’s family - the Church; God’s world - His call and commission; the ministries of YWAM.

Phase 2, Outreach (ID702) The emphasis is on the application of principles taught in the DTS lecture phase, equipping you to share God's love in a variety of ways.
After Outreach we will meet up in Switzerland to have another two weeks together to share your experiences and to get you ready for your next step in life.

Phase 3, Debriefing, 2 weeks. After Outreach we will meet up in Switzerland to have another two weeks together to share your experiences, to process things and to get you ready for your next step in life. One week of debriefing counts as lectures and one counts as part of your outreach.

Community living standards

alt

We are committed to living a Godly life worth the example. Your time here will be enjoyable, rewarding and challenging. Being a disciple of Jesus Christ includes taking responsibility for your life and conduct. The following things apply to you during your school:

Exclusive relationships
This will be a very special time for you to focus on God and build excellent friendships that last. To remain focused during the school we ask that no “boyfriend/girlfriend” relationships are started. We find that this provides a healthy environment where students are able to trust each other and enjoy developing Godly friendships without the distraction of a dating relationship.

Drugs, tobacco and alcohol
Most of the evangelical community of the world considers alcoholic drinks and tobacco products totally off limits. Often in these contexts, alcohol and tobacco use is viewed as a sign that someone either does not know God or is turning away from Him. It is important that we understand and honor one another's cultural backgrounds in our conversations and actions.

Drugs and smoking are absolutely prohibited and can be grounds for immediate dismissal from your school. On the base, alcohol is not allowed. We ask you to be wise and moderate in consuming alcohol. If you are suffering with an addiction of tobacco (regularly smoking) or alcohol, this will be a great opportunity to get rid of it. If we recognize that you have a problem with any of these we will make some personal guidelines for you to help you get rid of it.
